Your role
As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Ovom Care, you will play a crucial role in developing and deploying machine learning models that significantly impact the healthcare industry. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Integration with Healthcare Systems: Design and implement data integration solutions with various laboratory machines and services using healthcare standards such as HL7, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability across systems.
  • Design and Development: Design and build advanced machine learning models for analyzing high-resolution ultrasound images and other patient data, focusing on improving diagnostics accuracy and patient outcomes.
  • Infrastructure Management: Set up and manage the machine learning infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring scalable, secure, and efficient operations.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure all projects comply with GDPR and ISO standards relevant to healthcare data and its processing.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare professionals and software engineers to translate medical requirements into functional ML applications.
  • Innovation and Research: Stay ahead of the curve by researching and implementing the latest technologies and methodologies in machine learning and artificial intelligence.
  • Project Leadership: Lead projects from conception to deployment, including planning, execution, and maintenance.
  • People Leadership: Guide and mentor other ML Engineers
Your profile
To be successful in this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:

Requirements:
  • Educational Background: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience, with a proven track record in machine learning projects, preferably in healthcare.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proficiency in machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)
    • Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform services (BigQuery, Compute Engine, App Engine, Cloud ML Engine, etc.)
    • Strong programming skills in Python, and professional level of familiarity with SQL.
    • Experience in managing and processing high-resolution image data.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of GDPR and familiarity with ISO compliance standards in healthcare.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to work on complex issues where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, capable of working effectively in a team environment and presenting technical topics to non-technical audiences.

Modern Tools and Workflows:
  • Cloud Services: Extensive use of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services including, but not limited to, Compute Engine for managing VMs, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) for container orchestration, and AI Platform for training and deploying machine learning models.
  • Open Source Machine Learning Tools: Proficiency in using open-source ML libraries such as TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, and PyTorch for developing and deploying machine learning models.
  • Data Management and Processing: Utilization of GCP’s BigQuery for large-scale data analytics and Pub/Sub for real-time messaging. Experience with Apache Beam or Google Cloud Dataflow for data processing workflows.
  • Version Control and Code Sharing: Skilled in Git for version control, with projects hosted on platforms like GitHub or GitLab to facilitate code reviews and collaboration.
  • Containerization: Proficiency with Docker for creating, deploying, and running applications by using containers, integrated with Google Container Registry for storage and management of private container images.
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Implementation of CI/CD pipelines using open-source tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or integrated GCP tools like Cloud Build to automate testing and deployment of machine learning models and applications.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Expertise in leveraging open-source tools such as Prometheus for monitoring the performance of applications and Grafana for visualization, coupled with GCP’s operations suite (formerly Stackdriver) for comprehensive monitoring, logging, and diagnostics.
