About this position

We’re looking for a highly motivated and experienced DevOps Engineer to join our team at GLS/NXT. You will be instrumental in building and scaling state-of-the-art infrastructure for the private and business customers of GLS Germany, products that have the potential to impact the day-to-day lives of millions of people. You will be collaborating closely with our cross-functional engineering teams to create infrastructure for our products. As an early member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to shape our technology stack and processes while making significant contributions to our projects. Prerequisite

For this position, relocation to Germany/visa support is not provided, thus only applicants that already have a valid work permit in Germany are encouraged to apply.

Your Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage scalable and reliable infrastructure solutions.
• Provide infrastructure blueprints to facilitate continuous rollout of new services.
• Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in our dev, test, and production environments.
• Work closely with software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended.
• Implement security best practices to safeguard our infrastructure and data.
• Monitor system performance and make recommendations for improvements.

What you need to be successful

Background

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar software engineering role.
• Strong experience with cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud).
• Proficiency with networking topologies (e.g., VPNs, VPCs).

Competencies

• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
• Familiarity with database management and SQL.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
