About this position

We’re looking for a highly motivated and experienced Data Engineer to contribute to the scaling of our data infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of our growing business. As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering and enhancing GLSNXT data pipelines and warehouses while focusing on Looker development. This position involves building and maintaining ETL processes, and data models, ensuring data quality, and implementing Looker for data visualization and analytics. As one of the first hires inside our technology organization, all doors are open for personal and professional development – you are in the driver's seat!

Your responsibilities

• Collaborate across functions to scale the GLSNXT data infrastructure.
• Contribute to the roadmap and development of the GLSNXT data analytics pipeline and data warehouse.
• Design, build, monitor, and scale data pipelines for Data Warehousing, incorporating various data sources and destinations.
• Develop data models and schemas to support analytical requirements.
• Work with other engineering teams to resolve architecture and infrastructure challenges and design effective solutions.
• Participate in cross-functional projects supporting data applications and reporting.
• Address data quality issues and implement best practices.
• Create and maintain comprehensive systems documentation.
• Implement Looker for data visualization and analytics, including designing and setting up Looker models, establishing connections to data sources, creating dashboards and reports, and ensuring data quality and consistency within the Looker environment.

What you need to be successful

Background

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field
• 5+ years of proven experience in data engineering roles
• Expertise in designing, building, monitoring, and scaling pipelines for data warehousing.
• Hands-on experience with modern data engineering platforms (Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with modern data programming languages (Python, Go)
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS and GCP)
• Hands-on experience with data-warehousing technologies, including Google BigQuery and Snowflake

Competencies

• Proficient in SQL data sources and destinations
• Strong data modeling and schema design skills
• Experience with Looker and LookML
• Familiarity with Segment CDP is a plus
• Thrive in fast-moving and agile environments
• Ability to establish and manage software development operations (CI/CD) and agile methodologies
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and proficient in English
• Organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage their projects, and allocate their time according to business objectives
