About this position

We’re looking for a highly motivated and experienced (Senior) Web Engineer to join our team at GLS/NXT. You will be instrumental in state-of-the-art web applications for the private and business customers of GLS Germany, products that have the potential to impact the day-to-day lives of millions of people. You will be collaborating closely with our backend engineers and designers to create seamless and intuitive experiences for our users. As an early member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to shape our technology stack and processes while making significant contributions to our projects.

Your responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality web applications that meet user needs and business objectives while always keeping an eye on usability, performance and scalability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams made up of backend engineers, designers, product and business managers to define product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code using industry best practices and coding standards
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers ensuring code quality and best practices are maintained
• Optimise application performance, reliability, and security through profiling, debugging, and testing
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and recommend new tools and practices to improve our frontend development process
• Contribute to the development of technical specifications, architecture, and design documentation

What you need to be successful

Background

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in web development, with a focus on React and Typescript
• Proficiency in working with RESTful APIs and integrating with backend services
• Experience with automated testing, continuous integration, and deployment
• Familiarity with Headless CMS tools like Storyblok, Sanity, Contentful, or similar tools is a plus

Competencies

• Strong understanding of software design patterns, architectural patterns, modern web design principles and cross-browser compatibility
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript (ES2015+) and modern web development tools
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills as well as an attention to detail
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively both written and verbal in a team environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, agile environment
• Passion for user experience and a commitment to delivering high-quality products
