We’re looking for a hands-on Sensor Intern to help us solve real-world tracking and counting problems in industrial environments. You’ll evaluate sensors, build test beds, collect data, and develop working prototypes that can later be deployed in factories. This role sits at the intersection of hardware, software, industrial engineering, and automation.

This is a 6-month, full-time internship where you will have true technical ownership, with a strong opportunity to transition into a full-time for the right candidate.

Your role

  • Explore and test hardware in our Berlin office, set up test beds, and evaluate sensors (IoT, industrial, optical, etc.) from various suppliers

  • Deeply understand current tracking and counting limitations, brainstorm ideas, and propose creative hardware/sensor-based solutions

  • Use Python or/and C to interface with sensors, collect data, and build functional prototypes

  • Validate whether a sensor setup actually works in a simulated production environment to complement our existing tech stack

  • Collaborate closely with our engineers to work on hardware prototypes and sensor data

You are

  • Currently pursuing a degree in a relevant field (Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or similar)

  • You have previous experience with embedded devices, IoT, or industrial sensors

  • Interested in how physical sensor data (like time-of-flight, radar, or infrared) can blend with software approaches to solve complex tracking problems

  • Able to look at a physical bottleneck, understand the root cause, and systematically test hardware to fix it

  • You have strong prototyping and programming skills in Python or/and C

  • You possess high motivation, love figuring things out on your own, and can push a project forward without needing constant hand-holding

#LI-Onsite

Nice to have

  • A background or basic understanding of computer vision

What you’ll learn

You’ll get hands-on experience with industrial sensing, embedded prototyping, computer vision-adjacent tracking problems, real-world manufacturing constraints, and startup-style product development.

Why this role matters

Software handles our analytics, but physical environments need dedicated hardware for quality data. You’ll evaluate sensors and build prototypes that complement our software stack, directly improving shop-floor tracking accuracy and speeding up production.
